Dawgs take big halftime lead

The Montana Western men's basketball team rode a flawless first-half shooting performance by point guard Dom Robinson to a 53-37 lead of Louisiana State University-Shreveport on Thursday night in the final first round game at the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament in Kansas City.

Robinson hit all four of his free throws and all nine of his field goal attempts (four from beyond the arc) to score 18 points, while setting up teammates with five assists.

Playing in a 2-3 zone, the Bulldogs flustered the normally high-scoring LSUS offense to missing all but 14 of 37 of its overall shots from the field and 4 of 15 from downtown.

Chase Haack came off the bench to lead UMW on the boards, with five rebounds after the game's first 20 minutes, during which senior guard Shyke Smalls contributed a dozen points and a sweet steal and breakaway jam for Western.
