Lady Bulldogs fall on buzzer beater

Western women drop second-round heartbraker at national tourney
Up, and out. Things were looking up for the Lady Bulldogs on Friday for most of their second-round NAIA tourney game against Oklahoma City University--until the final second.

The Montana Western women's basketball team on Friday at the NAIA women's tourney in Billings saw a game it controlled deep into the second half slip from its fingers when a game-winning basket fell through the net for Oklahoma City University as time expired.

Ahead almost the entire game in the second-round showdown with second-seeded OKC, the Western women succumbed, 81-79, on a 12-foot jump shot on the left baseline that OKC's Daniela Galindo launched so close to the buzzer that the referees had to huddle up to confirm that it counted.

Galindo's game-winner capped a 10-4 run over the game's closing 2:41 by OCU to overtake Western and end the Dawgs' fine season in the second round of the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship.
