Straugh v. Straus

City Council president and city treasurer argue ethics
Dillon City Treasurer Neal Straus responds to City Council President Tom Straugh's contention that he engaged in unethical behavior.

In a highly unusual move at the last Dillon City Council meeting, City Treasurer Neal Straus submitted a pair of financial reports for the month of May to the council—but then asked that the council not vote to accept them.

“The reports in your packets are for your information only,” Straus advised the council members during his city treasurer report at the June 21 council meeting.

“I will submit them for approval if and when I receive a public apology and retraction from Tom Straugh,” continued Straus, responding to comments City Council President Tom Straugh made about him during a City Hall Committee meeting earlier that month.
