UMW volleyball looking to surf big infusion of talent into new season
Rise and shine again Returning upperclassmen Kyra Palmer (no. 13) and Tessa Miller (no. 9) will be back on—and above—the court for Montana Western volleyball when the Lady Bulldogs hold their Red-Black intrasquad scrimmage tonight in Straugh Gymnasium, in preparation for their regular season opener there a week later.

With a new coach brining a whole new way of playing the game to Straugh Gymnasium last year, the University of Montana Western volleyball team spent its 2016 preseason and early regular season learning a new system.

This season, the head coach and system remains the same. But given all the new faces on the roster, it probably took everyone on the 2017 team a day or two just to learn each other’s names.

Fans will get a first look at all the new names and faces today, Wednesday, Aug. 9, during a 7 p.m. Red & Black Intrasquad Scrimmage in Straugh Gymansium, where a week later the Western women will open their regular season against Walla Walla University on Aug. 16.
