Randy Gene Strupp 1947 – 2017

Randy Gene Strupp, 69, of Leadore, Idaho, passed away August 28, 2017.
Randy was born on October 8, 1947, in Rigby, Idaho, the son of Amos and Alois (Tyler) Strupp.

He was raised on the farm near Ukon, Idaho. The family moved in 1959 to Leadore, where he started the 6th grade and graduated in 1966. Randy attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. He joined the Navy in 1969 and was stationed at Pearl Harbor, obtaining his divers certification and a pilot’s license. He also spent part of his Naval career on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet II. He was honorably discharged in 1973.

Randy returned to Leadore, Idaho, where he met Cheryl Thompson, from Dillon, and the two were married on August 17, 1974, and resided in Dillon. They were blessed with their sons, Kelly and Kevin.

The family moved in 1988 to Kellogg, Idaho, where he worked at the Sunshine Silver Mine as a machinist. They moved back to Corvallis, Montana, in 1991.

Randy moved to Washington state, where he worked in the Tacoma area at paper mill plants and hydroelectric plants as a machinist until his retirement in 2006, when he moved back to Leadore. He enjoyed fixing things for people in the area and was very meticulous and crafty in his methods of repairing items for others.
Randy ventured to California over the years to visit family. He purchased his third Harley Davidson motorcycle and thoroughly enjoyed taking it out for scenic rides.

He bought a sawmill and made the necessary improvements to fit his style of workmanship. He had experience to operate the mill and create boards for others’ building projects and even built his own sharpening system for the blades.
Tools, machinery and fixing things were his life, and he took great pride in how the work was done. It had to be up to Randy’s standards!

Randy is survived by: his two sons, Kelly Gene Strupp, of Baggs, Wyoming, and Kevin (Kelly Helena) Strupp, of Bradley, California; three grandchildren, Casey Strupp, of Bradley, California, and Cierra and James Williams, of Baggs Wyoming; brother Vinn (Deborah) Strupp, of Leadore, Idaho; two sisters, Pamela (Bill) Waggener, of Three Forks, and Carol (Burt) Caldwell, of Kellogg, Idaho; along with many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Alois Strupp.
To respect the final wishes of Randy, no funeral services will be held.
