The University of Montana Western's men's and women's basketball teams used big second halves to overcome their counterparts from Montana State University-Northern on Saturday at Straugh Gymnasium on the UMW campus in Dillon.

The Lady Buldogs improved to 12-6 overall and 2-4 in the Frontier Conference by nearly doubling up MSUN in the final two quarters for a 78-58 win, their first in the last four games.

The Western men posted their second victory in three days by persevering down a tough final stretch to emerge with a 79-77 triumph to better their overall mark to 14-3 overall and 4-2 in the league.
