Weather, a reminder and events

Friday: About a 50 percent chance of snow with accumulation of an inch or less in the morning, when temperatures will hover in the low 30s and winds will blow from the south 10-15 mph before shifting to from the southwest and gaining force in the afternoon to 16-29 mph and gusting up to 30 mph.
Friday Night: COLD ALERT! With temperatures plunging into single digits after midnight and 6–13 mph winds from the southwest, the wind chill temperature could drop below zero as the chance of snow remains low.

Saturday: Minimal chance of snow as the thermometer climbs from single digits at dawn to an afternoon high in the upper 20s amid shifting winds of about 5 mph.
Saturday Night: COLD ALERT! About a 30 percent chance of light snow from just before midnight until dawn, with temperatures dropping as low as 9 degrees as 5–10 mph NE winds push the wind chill temperature toward zero.

Sunday: SNOW ALERT!! About a 75 percent chance of snow with accumulations of up to 2 inches in the morning and early afternoon, when temperatures will peak in the mid-20s and northerly winds will continue 7–18 mph
Sunday Night: COLD ALERT!! About a 20 percent chance of snow throughout the night, and with the thermometer dropping into single digit territory after midnight and SW winds blowing 10–12 mph, the wind chill temperature could fall below zero.

Volleyball league signups due Fri.

City League Volleyball will meet Tuesday and Thursday nights March 13 through April 19. Participants must be at least 16 years old. The University of Montana Western men’s basketball will today, Friday, March 2, host longtime nemesis Lewis-Clark State College at Straugh Gymnasium in Dillon for a semifinal game of the Frontier Conference men’s basketball tourney, Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. For ticket information, call 683-7220.

Jackson VFD event Sat.
The Jackson Volunteer Fire Department’s 2018 Firemen’s Ball will take place Saturday, March 3, at the Jackson Volunteer Fire Hall in the Big Hole Valley. Dinner will happen 5–7 p.m. with an all-you-can-eat, BBQ buffet. The event will also feature live and silent auctions, a raffle and music by Northern Lights.
